Dr. Gedalya Rapoport & Associates — the practice behind FamilyCaringDentist.com — is a general dental office at 8 Medical Park Drive in Pomona, caring for children and adults from across Rockland County. Dr. Rapoport moved his family to the county in 2005 and has built the practice around gentle, compassionate care, long patient relationships, and a conservative, minimally invasive approach to treatment.

What sets the office apart from most general practices its size is that it has a board-trained endodontist on the team. Dr. Brian Greenberg, a University of Pennsylvania-trained specialist and former Penn clinical professor, handles root canal therapy in-house — so patients needing nerve treatment are generally not referred out. Alongside him, Dr. Rapoport and Dr. Meira Stepansky Scheiner cover the general and cosmetic side, with Dr. Scheiner also trained in Invisalign® and nitrous oxide sedation.

Services include family dentistry for all ages, comprehensive cleanings and exams, cavity treatment and cosmetic fillings, crowns and bridges, dental implants, root canal therapy, specialty dentures, bonding, sealants, professional teeth whitening, toothache care, and dental emergencies. Dr. Rapoport holds an Associate Fellowship with the World Clinical Laser Institute and uses current technology for minimally invasive work.

Billing — read this before you call. This is an out-of-network, private-pay practice. If your plan includes out-of-network dental benefits it may cover part of your care, but the office is not contracted with any dental insurer, and they do not accept Medicaid or Fidelis. They take all major credit cards, offer CareCredit financing, and run in-house membership plans for patients without insurance — worth asking about on your first call.

Standard hours are Monday through Thursday 9am–5pm and Friday 9am–3pm, with Sunday and evening appointments available by arrangement — useful for patients who can’t take time off during the week. The office also takes text messages at the main number. Emergency and same-day requests are handled by phone; reviewers repeatedly mention the staff fitting in urgent problems, including for people who were not already patients.
