Dr. David Peto, DDS

Dr. David Peto is a board-certified periodontist practicing in New York and New Jersey, bringing a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to every procedure he performs. At Rockland Dental Specialists, he contributes to a practice built on precision, long-term planning, and a genuine commitment to patient outcomes.

He completed his dental education at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto, one of Canada’s foremost dental schools, then pursued hospital-based training at the Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center before attending the periodontics program at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. There he developed proficiency across the full range of periodontal surgery, including osseous surgery, extractions, dental implants, bone grafting, sinus lifts, and gingival grafting.

A conservative, evidence-based philosophy. Rather than defaulting to aggressive intervention, Dr. Peto evaluates each case on its own merits and pursues the most measured, effective path forward. His commitment to evidence-based treatment means recommendations reflect current research and clinical best practices rather than routine protocols. Long-term planning is central to how he practices — whether a patient is being evaluated for dental implants or coming in for scaling and root planing, he considers the full picture of their oral health and what it will take to maintain results over time.

Advanced training in LANAP and digital implant surgery. Dr. Peto is trained in LANAP, a minimally invasive laser-assisted alternative to conventional gum surgery that offers reduced discomfort and faster recovery. He is also particularly drawn to advances in digital implant surgery, where the added precision makes treatment safer, more predictable, and better aligned with each patient’s anatomy.

Away from the practice, Dr. Peto plays hockey, keeps music a constant in his life, and spends time with friends and family. His latest passion is making homemade pizza from scratch — approached with the same care for detail that defines his work in periodontics.
